Friday is our favorite

One of the new columns we’re starting here on Burritos and Bubbly is “Friday is our favorite.” We thought it would be fun for us to do a post together each week where we just get to share whatever random things we’re liking at the moment or fun/cute/interesting things we’ve come across recently. This is our first one so let us know what you think!

Kerry’s favorites…

1. Andy got me Home by Novogratz for Christmas and I’m loving it. I don’t usually buy decorating books. I’ve always just thought they’re one of those unnecessary expenses, that I’d look at the pictures once and put them on a shelf, but this book is really changing my mind. I’ve been devouring every word and really loving the insight into the process of some of my favorite designers. Cortney and Bob Novogratz make decorating fun. They have taught me so much, just by watching them on TV and now reading their book, about being fearless when it comes to mixing styles and colors and not taking any of it too seriously. Plus this book is fluorescent pink and you cannot go wrong with a bright pink book!!

2. I love this vintage dress so very, very much. It’s not my size, so someone really needs to buy it and show it a good time. Take it somewhere special, drink lots of champagne, dance on a table. I’ve decided I’d like to wear more vintage. There’s so many cute vintage shops in my neighborhood that I never find the time to visit. Wouldn’t that be a great thing to do on a day off? Etsy is usually my favorite go-to place to window shop for vintage. I could (and sometimes do!) spend hours looking at amazing dresses from the ’50s and ’60s. (via The Glamorous Housewife)

Andy’s favorites…

3. I’ve been playing Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch pretty obsessively for at least a week now. It’s this weird mix of being incredibly complex and awesome, and then the next second it seems completely juvenile. One mission has me travelling back in time to find the most powerful wand in existence, the next mission has me finding someone who can spare some “kindness” so I can bottle it and then give it to a mechanic so he can be nicer to his wife. From the moment I first started playing, I said, “This looks like I’m playing a cartoon,” which is amazing. The good outweighs the bad, heavily, which explains why I play it every chance I get, so it’s on my favorite things this week.

4. I don’t think I had ever eaten a brussels sprout in my life up until about four, maybe five months ago. Vegetables, in general, are sort of a new realm for me. Somehow, though, they have skyrocketed to one of my favorite foods. We’ve been enjoying them two ways: roasted with just some olive oil and and salt and pepper and this recipe. I mean, come on, even if you don’t like brussels sprouts, you can’t go wrong with bacon and apples.
