Last week we gave you a tiny little peek into our new rumpus room, so today I want to show you what it’s looking like now. Let me just preface by saying… WOW.
It’s lighter, brighter, mintier, bluer, and way way happier. The new paint color is Valspar Sea Air, which is a nice minty blue. It’s a bright color, but in this north-facing room that gets very little natural light, it looks soft and calm.
You may remember the plans we drew up for the room ahead of painting. We left the basic furniture and art, but we are making a lot of other changes — including repainting the coffee table, moving the piano to another room (easier said than done!), and getting a new rug (ordered one last night!). We have a bunch of other fun ideas for this room, like art and plants, but since we love how open and airy it feels now, we definitely want to leave it a lot less crowded than it used to be.
Here’s a fun side-by-side before-and-after. Or like a before-and-in-progress.
So what do you think of the new color?!
— Kerry
Love the brightness! Looks great!
Thanks so much, Julie!!
Oh I love it! Makes me want to have a room just to name it the rumpus room too! (:
Haha, I think we decided we needed to call a room “rumpus room” before we even had a house! Thanks Kyra! Great “meeting” you today :)
It’s a beautiful color! It looks great with the trim too.
Thanks so much, Christina!
I LOVE the blue! Great job, guys!
Where did you find that map?!
Thanks Ashley! My parents actually bought that map at an antique store when I was little, so we commandeered it for this room as soon as we moved in. Isn’t it fun?!
