Six weeks to fit

So we just realized that the trip to Europe that we’ve been planning for so long is only six weeks away. As soon as I discovered that, my first thoughts were 1) I need new clothes and 2) I need to start exercising. Trips to Europe mean lots of walking. It’s the best way to really see and experience a city, is way cheaper than paying for cabs all the time, and is a lot easier than figuring out public transportation. But all that walking means we need to get in a little better shape than we are now, because right now our shape is couch potato.

I saw this fitness routine on Pinterest the other day, showed it to Andy, and we decided to give it a try. Our goal is to exercise regularly for the next six weeks, not so much to lose a specific number of pounds or anything, but just to tighten up and have more energy. It’s a lot easier to commit to a plan when we’re doing it together, and now that I’m posting this on the internet for the whole world to see, we really have to stick with it, because if we don’t, all of you can make fun of us!

We’ve done this routine twice now. It sucks. But that’s how you know it’s working. The first time I was only able to do one round — and literally fell on my butt doing the wall sit! The second time I finished two rounds, and Andy is up to three rounds. I always like the way I feel after working out, even when I’m sore, which is nice motivation. The other great motivator: Paris. I’m so excited to walk all over Paris!

Wish us luck! Do you have an at-home fitness plan that works for you? We’d love to hear what you do to stay fit!

  1. Finished one set, minus the burpee (I had to use YouTube to look up how to do it). The best part was watching Brady try to copy me. I’ll have to get it on video next time.
