Design Dilemma: Color vs. Neutral

You guys, this week is CRAZY. Andy just went back to work after four glorious weeks off, so now I’m figuring out this whole new life where I’m somehow in charge of keeping a very tiny human being alive all by myself for 10+ hours a day. Who put me in charge??? Eek!

So anyway, let’s talk about pretty things and look at pictures of pretty rooms, ok?

Now that we’re getting more and more settled into our new house, we’re starting to seriously think about how we’re going to decorate and style it. Right now it has no style and is super boring.  But I’m finding myself stuck in a design dilemma: color vs. neutral. In other words, do we want our house to be bright, cheerful and really colorful, or do we want it to be calm, serene and filled with neutrals? Both can be beautiful!

Which would you choose??

I’m leaning toward colorful because it’s fun and family-friendly … but then again, the neutrals are so pretty and calm, and we could certainly use some calm in our lives! Ugh. That, you guys, is exactly why this is a dilemma! What do you think?

    1. I totally agree, Jaimee. I’m leaning towards color, too, and I think we can find a nice balance. Thanks for the vote!!

  1. I have lived in a neutral house for 6 years. Benefits: easy to add pops of colors with pillows, throws, etc. and makes decorating for the holidays super easy! But I will say, I think one or two rooms with pops of color is a great idea too!
